The Char-Lynn 291-5162-003 is a hydraulic steering control unit, often called an Orbitrol, from Danfoss and Eaton. Mounted under the steering wheel, it meters oil to the steering cylinder in proportion to how far the wheel turns. Units are replaced when steering drifts, the wheel turns without response, kicks back, or oil leaks at the column seal.
