The JOST SK1489LZ is a left-hand lock jaw for JOST fifth wheels. The lock jaw closes around the trailer kingpin when the tractor couples, and holds it in place on the road. Jaws wear over time, and a worn one lets the kingpin move, causing slack, banging on starts and stops, or failed lock checks; that is when they are replaced.
