The Gunite AS1172 is an automatic slack adjuster for air brakes on heavy trucks and trailers. It turns the S-cam when the brake chamber pushes, and it takes up shoe wear on its own so pushrod stroke stays within limits. Out-of-adjustment brakes at inspection, a seized adjuster or worn splines are common reasons to replace one.

Before you order: compare the specs with your old unit: 5.5” arm length, 28 splines and a 1.5” spline diameter. Check the AS1172 number as well. The adjuster comes alone, without a box or hardware.
